Marlene Greyeyes is the regional Medical Transportation Clerk for northeastern BC. Her role is to provide assistance to all off-reserve registered first nation members who are required to travel away from their community, to access medically required health services not available locally. The communities that Marlene serves, include: Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Hudson's Hope, Pouce Coupe, Kelly Lake, Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek, Taylor, Fort Nelson and all points in between.

This medical transportation program is a component of the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program and assists clients to access needed medical professionals, tests, dental and other treatment and services when these services are not available where the client lives. This can include arranging for transportation to be available for clients, providing financial assistance to transport them selves, or arranging for these medical services in the community. For further information, please visit the Health Canada website.

The Treaty 8 Tribal Association (T8TA) has been administering this service to all first nations living in the Western Treaty 8 Territory, or northeastern BC, since 2006 through a contribution funding agreement with Health Canada.

Marlene was born and raised in Fort St John, BC. She is a member of Bigstone Cree Nation and prior to working as the regional medical transportation clerk, Marlene was a stay at home mom to her three children for 10 years. Marlene returned to school, when her children were settled into an elementary school level. She completed the Office Administration program and continued on with her education to receive her Business Management diploma. Marlene rejoined the workforce and began working for the School District #60 in 2001, where she remained until June 2008 when she began working with the Treaty 8 Tribal Association.

Marlene is a hockey mom and an active member of the Spirit of the Peace Powwow Society. She has contributed to Taylor, BC’s local Annual Spirit of the Peace Powwow every June, since it began in 2006. Marlene is a valued employee to our organization and she is very helpful with assisting clients with the First Nations Medical Transportation Program. Please feel welcome to contact Marlene if you have any questions about the T8TA first nation's medical transportation services.
